Le lieu
Tashbaan occupies an island in the middle of a wide river, connected to the banks by bridges. The city rises in terraces up to the Tisroc’s palace and the great Temple of Tash at the top. Its streets are narrow, crowded, noisy, and smelly. The nobles travel in litters, preceded by runners who clear the crowd with sticks.

Ce qui s’y passe (révèle l’intrigue)
Shasta and Bree pass through disguised as peasants. Shasta is mistaken for Prince Corin by the Narnian delegation, which reveals Rabadash’s plans to him. Aravis, hidden with Lasaraleen in the old palace, overhears the Tisroc’s secret council. The old site also mentioned the Imperial Post Office, where letters are sent.
The city is the showcase of Calormene luxury and arbitrary rule. Rabadash regains his human form in the Temple of Tash, but can no longer leave it.
