En bref
Aravis is the daughter of a high-ranking Calormene nobleman, a Tarkaan. Raised to tell stories in the style of court poets, ride horses, and shoot arrows, she is proud, fearless, and unafraid of almost anything. When her father attempts to force her into marriage with a repulsive old vizier, she chooses to flee north on her mare Hwin, who also turns out to be a talking beast from Narnia.
« I tell your story, not his. No one learns from another’s story. »
I am telling you your story, not hers. No one is told any story but their own.
— Aslan to Aravis, The Horse and His Boy, ch. 14

Moreover, her father wanted to force her to marry Ahoshta Tarkaan. That is why she decided to run away. With Shasta, Bree, and Hwin, they lived many adventures in *The Horse and His Boy* and she returned in *The Last Battle*. In the meantime, she married Shasta.
