Le lieu
London is the starting point of almost all the adventures. Around 1900, Digory and Polly live there in a row of terraced houses, and Jadis wreaks havoc, perched on a cab. In 1940, the Pevensie children leave the bombed city for the countryside. In 1949, the railway accident that ends The Last Battle happens there.

Ce qui s’y passe (révèle l’intrigue)
The old site listed many real places mentioned in the books. Trafalgar Square and Stonehenge are compared to Narnian locations in The Silver Chair. Cambridge is the town where some relatives stay, the Isle of Wight and Somerset are holiday destinations, and Bernstead is a place mentioned in The Horse and His Boy. These details anchor the heroes in a very concrete England.
Lewis often contrasts the drabness of the real world (pensions, schools, war) with the brilliance of Narnia. But the end of the Chronicles shows that a "true England" also exists in the land of Aslan : our world is not despised, it is called to be transfigured.
London and the English countryside form the starting point for almost all adventures. Digory’s house in 1900, the Underground and train stations, the Scrubb house, the mixed school, and the professor’s house all make our world a character in its own right, which Aslan calls at the end the Shadowlands.
