Le lieu
The Bridge of Beruna is the only easy crossing of the Great River through the heart of Narnia. It is therefore of great strategic value. It is here that Peter and his army face the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe until Aslan’s arrival and the resurrection of the statues. Edmund breaks the White Witch’s wand there and is gravely wounded.

In the time of Caspian, the Telmarines built a bridge over the ford and a small town, Beruna. After the Battle of the Fords, Aslan frees the river god, who destroys the bridge. Bacchus and the Maenads run through the town freeing its inhabitants.
The old site reminds us that the Bridge of Beruna appears in both books, as a landmark of Narnian memory.
The Beruna Ford is the place where one can cross the Great River on foot. Two crucial battles were fought there, thirteen centuries apart.
