The beavers are talking beasts of Narnia. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver welcome the four children, feed them, and reveal the prophecies to them. Mr. Beaver is very proud of his dam. They embody the hospitality and good cheer of Old Narnia, under the dominion of the White Witch. During creation, in The Magician’s Nephew, a beaver is among the first animals to receive the gift of speech.

Mr. and Mrs. Beaver are the first to guide the children to Aslan.
