En bref
Lilith does not appear in the Chronicles : Mr. Beaver mentions her to explain where the White Witch comes from. She would descend from Lilith, "the first wife of your father Adam," who was a jinn, and from giants. She looks human, but she is not.
Where does Lilith come from?
Lilith is an ancient figure. She appears in Mesopotamian texts, then in the medieval Jewish tradition, which makes her Adam’s first wife, rebellious and demonic. The Bible does not tell it this way. Lewis also knew the Lilith from George MacDonald’s novel Lilith (1895), his master in fantasy literature.
Why it matters
By this genealogy, Lewis emphasizes that the Witch has no right to Narnia : only the "Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve" can legitimately occupy its thrones. The Magician’s Nephew, written later, adds another origin to Jadis : the royalty of Charn. The two versions do not exclude each other.

Lilith
It was a tall woman, a Jinn. Jadis descended from this line of women. According to Hebrew tradition, she was Adam’s first wife and was banished from the Garden of Eden because she refused to be inferior to Adam. It is said that she became a demon and terrorized women and children. According to Babylonian tradition, she was the goddess of women who protected mothers and children.
