L’objet
In the West, a silver apple tree grows. Its flesh gives endless youth to those who eat it, but to those who steal it, it also brings despair. Digory once ate one and became invulnerable, but he now hates the tree.

Histoire et rôle dans les Chroniques (révèle l’intrigue)
Digory brings the apple to Aslan. Planted by the river, it immediately grows into the Tree of Protection : its scent is delightful to others but torture to Jadis, who cannot approach Narnia for centuries. Aslan then gives Digory another apple, which heals his mother.
Digory plants the core in his London garden. The apple tree that grows is felled by a storm, and its wood is used to make the magical wardrobe. In The Last Battle, the tree is recalled in the Land of Aslan.
The Silver Apples grow in the West Garden. Stolen and eaten without permission, an apple gives eternal youth, but also a miserable heart. Picked for others, it protects and heals. Digory plants one in Narnia, which becomes the Wardrobe Tree. Another heals his mother, and its core, planted in London, will give the Apple Tree of the Wardrobe.
