Aslan sends Digory to fetch an apple from a distant garden, west of Narnia, beyond the mountains, near a blue lake surrounded by ice peaks. Mounted on Strawberry, now called Plover, with Polly, he arrives after a long flight. The garden is surrounded by a high hedge of greenery and closed by golden gates.

An inscription in silver letters warns : enter through the golden gates or do not enter, pick for others or refrain, for those who steal or climb will find what they desire, but also despair. At the center grows the apple tree of immortality. Jadis once climbed it and ate an apple. She tempts Digory to steal one for his mother.

The former name for this place was "The Land of Youth".

The garden is located at the top of a green hill, beyond the Western Mountains, near a blue lake. A green wall surrounds it, and on its golden door is written a warning : one may enter only to pick apples for others. In the center grows the apple tree.

Le Neveu du magicien — Digory y cueille une pomme pour Aslan. Il y rencontre Jadis, qui a déjà mangé un fruit volé et tente de le persuader d’en voler un pour sa mère. Il refuse.

La Dernière Bataille — Au terme de la montée « plus haut et plus loin », les héros arrivent devant un autre jardin clos aux portes d’or, sur une colline verte, qui rappelle celui de l’Ouest.
