The distances are compressed; the lower map is not to scale: it shows the order of the places, from north (on the left) to south (on the right).
**The steps of the journey**
Aslan gives the four signs to Jill, then blows her to Narnia.
Jill and Eustace arrive at the departure of King Caspian the Old; the owls carry them away at night to the north.
Puddleglum the Marsh-wiggle becomes their guide.
Of days walking on the moor, away from the giants who throw stones.
At the end of the bridge, the Lady of the Green Kirtle advises them.
In the snowy storm, they unknowingly cross the city and its trenches.
The "good" giants count on serving them at the feast: they flee to the city.
Stopped by the Earthmen, they meet Father Time asleep.
The boat ride to the Queen's city, where they rescue Rilian.
During the escape, a fiery chasm opens up: it is Bism, the underworld.
Through a small hole in a bank, they emerge into the middle of the Great Snow Dance.
Repères et pays
The stepping stones on the river that separates the Marshes from Ettin’s Waste.
The underground city where the Lady of the Green Kirtle holds Rilian; she has tunnels dug beneath Narnia.
The small hole in a bank, at the end of the tunnel, where they find fresh air in Narnia.
Hors de cette carte
The starting point of Jill and Eustace, beyond the world: it is not on any map.
In *The Silver Chair*, Jill Pole receives Aslan’s signs on the high mountain of **Narnia** before joining Eustace at **Cair Paravel**. Carried by owls to the **Northern Moors**, the two children set off with Puddleglum toward the wild **Landes d’Ettin**, cross the Bridge of the Giants, and reach **the Ruined City of the Giants** and then the castle of **Harfang**.
The second half of the map shows the descent underground: from the chasm beneath the ruined city, the path plunges into **Underland**, crosses **the Sunless Sea** to the city of the Lady in Green, opens onto the fiery chasm of **Bism**, and finally ascends through a long tunnel to the snowy woods of **Narnia**.
