Le lieu

The Underground is a vast region of caverns beneath the Northern lands. A pale and colourless light reigns there. One encounters the Earthmen, silent and sad, and dragons and giant beasts asleep, who will awaken at the end of the world, according to the Guardian. A boat crosses the Sunless Sea to the city and castle of the Queen.

In this castle, Rilian lives under the enchantment of the Lady. She had a tunnel dug to Narnia, from which she plans to emerge with an army. Each night, Rilian is bound to the Silver Chair during the hour when he regains his senses.

The Lady also tries to persuade the travellers that there is no “Upper World,” no sun, no Aslan. When she dies, the kingdom collapses and the water floods the caverns. The old site associated the “Upper World.”

The Underland is a kingdom of caverns beneath the northern moors, above the Land of Bism. The Lady of the Green Kirtle rules over the enchanted gnomes. She has a tunnel dug to invade Narnia from below, with Rilian as a puppet king.

Underground World

As the name indicates, it is the kingdom of the population that lives underground. There are many caverns, tunnels, as well as the *Sea of Darkness* and the city of the *White Witch*. This world will be completely flooded after the Witch is dead. The people of Earth call it the Surface Lands.
