L’objet

Histoire et rôle dans les Chroniques (révèle l’intrigue)

Bound, he begs his visitors, in the name of Aslan, to set him free : this is the fourth sign. Despite their fear, Jill, Eustace, and Puddleglum cut his bonds. Rilian shatters the chair with a stroke of his sword, breaking the spell.

The silver chair, filled with magic, is the centerpiece of the book, which takes its name from it.

The Silver Chair is an intricately crafted seat in a room in the Lady’s castle. Each night, Rilian is tied to it during the hour when he regains his sanity. The Lady makes him believe that it is then that he is mad and dangerous. Once freed, Rilian breaks the chair with his sword.
