The story
The Lady is the Queen of the Underland, a realm she rules through magic while enslaving the gnomes of Bism. As a green serpent, she killed the Queen of Narnia, mother of Rilian. She then seduced and enchanted the young prince, who remembers nothing. Each night for an hour he regains his senses ; she then has him tied to the silver chair. She plans to make him a puppet king by tunneling beneath Narnia to invade it. When the heroes free Rilian, she tries one last enchantment : green powder thrown on the fire, a mandolin, and sweet words persuading them that the world above, the sun and Aslan are only dreams. Puddleglum breaks the spell by stepping into the fire. Furious, she turns into a serpent and is killed by Rilian, Eustace and Puddleglum.
