En bref

Under the White Witch’s reign, it’s "always winter and never Christmas." The arrival of Father Christmas is therefore a huge event : it signals that the Witch’s magic is crumbling.

Son histoire dans les livres (révèle l’intrigue)

In the book

The children and the Beavers first think they hear the White Witch’s sledge, but it’s Father Christmas who arrives. He gives them gifts "which are tools and not toys" : - to Peter, a sword and a shield emblazoned with a red lion ; - to Susan, a bow, a quiver, and a horn that summons help ; - to Lucy, a flask of healing cordial and a small dagger ; - to Mrs. Beaver, a new sewing machine, and to Mr. Beaver, a repaired dam. He tells the girls they must not join the battle, which has sparked debate among readers.

Father Christmas

Forbidden from entering Narnia by the White Witch, Father Christmas brings useful gifts to the children and helps them use them to their best advantage. Fun in our world, he is very different in Narnia.
