The sword only receives its name, Rhindon, in The Horse and His Boy. In Prince Caspian, the children find the sword and shield in the treasure room of Cair Paravel, and Peter uses them against Miraz.

Rhindon is the sword that Father Christmas gives to Peter, with a shield of silver marked by a red lion. Peter uses it in the first battle against Maugrim. He finds it again in the treasure room centuries later.
