L’objet
In London, Jadis tears off a lamp-post’s crossbar to use as a weapon. She brings it to Narnia and hurls it at Aslan during the creation. The bar falls into the still-living ground, and a young lamp-post grows up.

Histoire et rôle dans les Chroniques (révèle l’intrigue)
It grows and shines day and night, without oil or fuel, in the middle of the forest. It gives its name to the Lamp-post Waste. Lucy discovers it when she comes out of the wardrobe. The adult kings and queens later find it again while hunting the White Stag and half-remember its significance.
The lamp-post is one of Narnia’s visual emblems, appearing on book covers, in films, and games.
The lamp-post was created, on the day of Creation, from an iron bar torn from a London lamp-post by Jadis. She threw it at Aslan, and the bar grew into the ever-burning lamp-post in the fertile soil of Narnia.
