Histoire et rôle dans les Chroniques (révèle l’intrigue)
Aslan offers to die in his place. After his death, he rises again and explains the Deeper Magic that the Witch did not know because it was put into Narnia at the beginning of time. When a willing and innocent victim dies for a traitor, the Stone Table cracks and death itself is reversed.
This concept is the theological heart of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It evokes the Christian doctrine of redemption, as Lewis presents it : not as a transaction, but as a deeper law of love.
The Deep Magic is the law engraved on the Stone Table and on the scepter of the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea. It decrees that all traitors belong to the White Witch. But there is a Deeper Magic that comes from before the dawn of time : when a willing victim who had committed no treachery is killed in a traitor’s stead, the Stone Table will crack and death itself will start working backward.
The Resurrection of Aslan
Le Lion, la Sorcière blanche et l'Armoire magique — Jadis réclame Edmund au nom de la Magie profonde. Aslan s’offre à sa place et revient à la vie.
