Roonwit is a centaur, an astrologer and a friend of Tirian. When it is announced that "Aslan is back," he tells the king that the stars say nothing of the sort. Instead, they foretell great disaster.

In the book

At the beginning of the book, he drinks a bowl of wine that would be enough for six men in one go, then reads the signs in the sky : the planets are in an unfavorable conjunction, and the false Aslan is a lie. Tirian sends him to gather an army at Cair Paravel. He dies in the Calormene attack on the coast. The eagle Rook reports his last words to Tirian : remember that all worlds have an end, and that a noble death is a treasure that no one is too poor to buy.
