Ce qui s’y passe (révèle l’intrigue)
He wakes up transformed into a dragon, a gold bracelet tight around his paw. Alone and miserable, he realizes how unpleasant he has been and becomes helpful. One night, Aslan leads him to a well, removes his dragon skin, and bathes him. Eustace becomes a boy again, changed inside.
The bracelet belonged to Lord Octesian, one of the seven lords, possibly dead or himself transformed into a dragon. The old site also mentioned the Burnt Island, a nearby blackened island where the remains of a village and a small coracle can be found.
It is a mountainous island, covered in forests, with a sheltered bay. The Dawn Treader lands there after a storm. In a valley, an old dragon dies near a pool beside its treasure.
L'Odyssée du Passeur d'Aurore — Eustache s’y change en dragon en s’endormant sur le trésor. Aslan le guérit près d’un puits, au sommet d’une montagne. Le nom de l’île lui vient de cet épisode.

- The coracle found on the Burnt Island is the one Reepicheep will use for his final voyage.
- The "de-dragonization" of Eustace, skin by skin, is one of the most discussed passages in Lewis : it is an image of inner change that one cannot achieve alone.
