Le lieu
Digory and Polly arrive there thanks to Uncle Andrew’s yellow rings. It’s a warm, green, and silent wood. No birds can be heard, and the trees seem to be growing. You forget who you are and where you come from. There are puddles everywhere ; jumping into one with a green ring leads to another world.

Ce qui s’y passe (révèle l’intrigue)
Digory compares the place to an attic that connects the houses in a row : it doesn’t belong to any world, but allows access to all of them. Polly suggests marking the pool that leads to London, which saves the children from being lost.
According to Aslan, the pool to Charn dried up after the death of that world. He advises humans not to meddle with that magic : the rings will be buried.
The Wood Between Worlds belongs to no world : it is a place between, where nothing ever happens. It is so quiet that one forgets who they are. Each pool leads to a different world. Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer mark their world’s pool with a lump of earth to avoid losing it. Polly Plummer describes it as "a place as rich as a plum cake."

- The sleepiness of the place may protect the worlds : Jadis loses her strength there.
- The Wood appears only in *The Magician’s Nephew*, but the concept of portals recurs throughout the series.
- The Wood is often likened to the idea of a "multiverse". Lewis presents it as a sort of attic of worlds.
- Jadis feels unwell there : her power of domination fades, as if the place refuses magic.

Wood-between-the-worlds
Calm and (too) peaceful, this strange and green place is the gateway to enter any other world that exists : a kind of endless forest. One loses their memory and falls asleep there—it is a land without history and without any future, nothing ever happens. Both frightening and reassuring, it will allow Digory and Polly to discover the city of Charn.
