Griffins are part of the creatures that gather around Aslan in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They are powerful allies, following the medieval heraldic tradition. The old site described them as having "a lion’s body and an eagle’s head and wings."

They fight for Aslan and serve as scouts.
