En bref
Miss Prizzle teaches history to the children of Beruna. Her class is, according to the narrator, “more boring than the most boring history lesson and less true than the most exciting adventure story.”
Look and analysis
Lewis often mocked dry education, which conveys facts without wonder. The same criticism appears with the Experimental Digory Kirke in The Silver Chair.
Name
Prizzle evokes prissy (prim and proper) and prize (prize) ; “Crécelle” conveys the idea of a shrill and unpleasant voice.
