At the end of Prince Caspian, Aslan reveals the origin of the Telmarines. They descend from pirates from our world who, after seizing an island in the South Seas and its inhabitants, took refuge in a cave. This was one of the few chinks between worlds, and they fell into Telmar.

Aslan then sets up a door made of three wooden stakes. The Telmarines who wish to do so pass through it to return to that now-deserted island and live there. The Pevensies also pass through it to return to the railway station.

The original site called the place the "Earth Island" and described the "magic door" created by Aslan.

It is an island in the South Seas of our world. Pirates had found, deep in a cave, a doorway between worlds. They passed through it to Telmar, where they settled.

Le Prince Caspian — À la fin, Aslan dresse une porte en bois. Les Telmarins qui veulent rentrer dans « leur » monde la traversent vers cette île, puis les Pevensie rentrent en Angleterre par le même passage.
