En bref
Gumpas governs the Lone Islands, a neglected Narnian territory by the Telmarine kings. He no longer pays tribute, allows the slave trade to flourish, and hides behind reports, statistics, and meetings.
Look and analysis
Gumpas is a satire of modern bureaucracy, a favorite target of Lewis. He does not commit evil himself, but enables it through laziness and self-interest.
Dans les livres
Son histoire dans les livres (révèle l’intrigue)
In the book
Caspian lands with some men, is recognized, and enters the governor’s office. Gumpas opposes him with "reports" on "economic development." Caspian removes him from office on the spot, abolishes slavery, and appoints Lord Bern as the Duke of the Lone Islands.
