The Dance Under the Moon

En bref

En brief

Group profile. In Prince Caspian, the Old Narnians take Caspian to meet the fauns. They dance all night to the sound of flutes, and the prince dances with them.

The names

Lewis gives the fauns Latin or pseudo-Latin names : Mentius, Obentinus, Dumnus, Voluns, Voltinus, Girbius, Nimienus, Nausus and Oscuns. These names evoke the Roman rural deities and ancient Italy, the homeland of fauns.
