The 2005 film gets its first 4K release on 15 December
Disney is bringing Andrew Adamson's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to 4K in a limited steelbook edition, two months before Greta Gerwig's film opens.

Twenty-one years after it opened, the first Disney–Walden Narnia film is finally getting an ultra-high-definition release. Disney announced on 15 October a limited steelbook that bundles a 4K disc, a Blu-ray and a digital code. It goes on sale on 15 December in North America and on 14 December in the UK. The cast is the one fans remember: Tilda Swinton, James McAvoy and Liam Neeson voicing Aslan.
Both audio commentaries are carried over, one by the director with the actors and one by the filmmakers. The North American set also has creature featurettes and an interactive map of Narnia, and the UK edition includes a blooper reel. We found no release date for France or Switzerland.
The timing is no coincidence: the reissue comes two months before Greta Gerwig's The Magician's Nephew reaches cinemas on 12 February 2027.
