Liam Neeson learns mid-interview that Narnia is coming back
The former voice of Aslan in the Walden films had no idea Greta Gerwig was making a new Narnia movie, and found out on the spot that Meryl Streep has taken over the role.

The news had clearly not reached him yet. Asked by Screen Rant about Narnia's return to the big screen, Liam Neeson, whose deep voice gave life to Aslan in Walden Media's three films between 2005 and 2010, admitted he had never heard of the new project.
When the interviewer explained that Meryl Streep now voices the lion, Neeson asked, half amused, whether Meryl was playing Jesus Christ, then quipped that if the part had to go to a woman, nobody could do it better. Told that Greta Gerwig was directing, he simply replied with a surprised "Wow".
The two actors go back a long way: they starred together in Before and After in 1996 and have stayed friends. Giving Aslan, whom Lewis intended as a figure of Christ, a female voice has divided some readers since it was announced. The Magician's Nephew opens in theatres on February 12, 2027, and arrives on Netflix on April 2.
